On my flight from Miami to London, I crossed strong turbulences in the plane.
Even though I travelled with my father and my little sister since I am a kid for one-hour
short flights from Marseille to Ajaccio, I am still feeling a touch of insecurity and sometimes feeling fears arising from
nowhere while the plane is crossing turbulences.
Indeed, flying for me, short or long distance is always a first time feeling.
In my flight from Miami to London, I was dealing with my own fears which were rising up when
the plane was shaking strongly for a moment which seems to last long in this suspended time.
I concentrated myself on my breathing. Breathing deeply and slowly, talking to myself, and saying
» All is well, I am safe , I am much loved and only good lies before me. » » Thank you God for helping
us to have a safe journey ».
Meanwhile I was taking the time to relax and let go of my fears little by little, I noticed all around me the amazing
work from the airhostesses and stewards, also the talents from the marvellous pilots
who create the best enjoyable experience within the flying adventure, I also sensed that the energy
was becoming more tensed during the shaky shaky motions of the plane.
Then suddenly, heading to the bathroom, I encountered in the row of seats behind me,
a blond woman who was feeling
apparently very scary about these new and strong flying sensations heading to the unknown
experience. Her way of breathing shortly and her face all red, and tears coming to her eyes
were indicating me a sign of panick. Her boyfriend sitting next to her, were trying his best to help
her feel better. An airhostess came to her rescue, talking to her softly and putting a comforting
hand on her shoulder, she stayed with her during a little moment. Then, since I could relax more
and concentrate of letting go of my fears by breathing softly and deeply in the most comfy sitting position,
I naturally went to talk to my fearful neighbour and then began to share with her a bit of my precious
knowledge based mainly on yoga and artist techniques mixed with positive attitudes,
I showed her how to breath deeply and slowly from the belly, imagining a balloon which inflates
whenever she inhales; then deflate the balloon, exhaling all the air out and her tensions and fears,
pushing them away while her belly was becoming flatter and flatter. We did together a few deep breathings
she continued by herself and I went back to my comfy seat.
Yes, teaching or sharing your knowledge with somebody help you not only to feel good about
doing this positive action,
it also help you embodying the experience of what you are teaching.
That’s how teaching her this precious tool of well being, I began myself to feel really secure
about crossing these turbulences. I became more confident about the situation and
feel empowered of controlling my emotions, paying attention of my fears but not letting
them taking the power on my beautiful and fresh adventure of flying.
Thank you !
